Dev log 1: Post jam updates
So the GMTK jam is over for 2020. Now we must await the results. Either way, here's what's new:
- Invincibility frames after taken damage:
So one major complaint about the jam version was that a player could die instantly if they weren't quick enough because of the enemy firerate being high. So now every time you get hit , you'll be invincible for a few seconds.
- Controls have been altered:
While I intentionally meant for the control scheme of the game to be Z,X.up arrow and down arrow, I had accidentally left the left and right arrow working for shooting and moving, unfortunately it lead to a haphazard control scheme. Thinga have been streamlined now.
Z,X,Up Arrow and Down Arrow still work. Along with that, left and right arrow are now used to move in the directions you're facing and to shoot.
eg; when you're on the left side of the building: Left arrow=shoot , Right arrow=move through the building
when you're on the right side of the building: Right arrow=shoot , Left arrow=move through the building
- Difficulty curve has been made a little easier:
Again, a major complaint about the game is that it was a little too difficult XD. Now, it's been made a little easier, along with the invincibility frames.
- Android version has been uploaded:
A mobile version of the game has been added for android which works on swipe and hold controls
(i.e swipe to move and hold the screen to shoot)
I have a lot more in store for the game, including new enemies, weapons and bosses but seeing as though they all need to fit the movement and weapon mechanics of the game, they're going to take some real thought. In the meantime, any feedback for the current post-jam version of the game would be appreciated
